All training programmes approved by the Mediators' Institute of Ireland are assessed against specific criteria based on the competencies required for the various levels of membership. Please note that while the following listed training programmes have been approved by the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (The MII), the MII is not responsible for the administration or delivery of these programmes. Also, to become a member of the MII, participants must register directly with the MII.

Any person who is on an MII approved training programme is entitled to apply for free membership of the MII under the Trainee Member scheme - see Trainee Members page for details and registration information - and any person who successful completes an MII approved training programme is eligible to apply for MII membership at either Associate or Certified level depending on the status of the programme.

If you would like to apply to have your training programme approved, please refer to the MII training programme approval process.

New Quality Assurance Standards for MII Approved Programmes have been agreed by Council and will be posted shortly.

Approved Programmes to Associate and Certification Status

Registered Associate Members may submit for MII Certified Member assessment through MII role play assessment.

Note: Only the mediation training programmes listed above are approved by the MII. If you have completed training that you believe might be the similar to the requirements you should submit information about your course for the attention of the MII Accreditation Director. If the Accreditation Director believes that on the face of it the training that you did might be equivalent to an MII approved course, then you will be asked to submit copies of your course papers to have your training assessed for which there may be a fee. As this is a voluntary body it may take up to two months from receipt of your papers for your training to be assessed.

The MII no longer has automatic ‘equivalent’ training programmes, and those trainers whose programmes had been recognised as ‘equivalent’ were informed of this change and given a lengthy period to enable them to have their course approved. July 2012.
