Course Structure:  40 hours training and 20 hours MII approved assessment

Course Timings:  9.00am – 5.00pm

Max number on course:  12 Cost: Cost is €1150 per person plus €350 assessment fee.

Course Aim:  the aim of the course is to train individuals to become certified mediators and to provide an excellent understanding of the mediation process. 

 
Course Objectives: The main course objectives would be to provide an understanding of mediation as a career, mediation as an alternative to litigation, teaching the mediation process, completing the MII approved assessment and basically training the individuals in mediation as an alternative form of dispute resolution. 
 
Methodology and evaluation: ʉ۬the course will comprise 40 hours training which will include workshops, assignment, role plays, discussion, and MII assessment

John M. Sherlock

Certified member of the MII and founding member of the Mediation Academy of Ireland. John has worked as a senior lecturer in Communications Studies at the Garda College, Templemore. He is registered with Teaching Council of Ireland for further Education with qualifications in Legal Studies from DIT Dublin. Currently John is working as mediator with the Cavan Family Resource Centre. In addition he works as tutor with trainee solicitors in Mediation workshops with the Law Society of Ireland and as adjudicator for national & international mediation competitions.

Deborah Leonard
Deborah is a certified member of the MII and a founding member of the Mediation Academy of Ireland. Deborah graduated from University College of Dublin in 2001 with an Honours Law Degree and thereafter graduated as a solicitor in February 2006. Since qualifying Deborah has worked mainly in the areas of private client and qualified with a Diploma in Employment Law in March 2007. She trained with the Mediation Foundation of Ireland in February 2012 and became accredited by the Mediator’s Institute of Ireland later that year. Deborah has experience primarily in the area of debt mediation. She has been heavily involved in the judging of mediation competitions within the Law Society of Ireland and is presently employed as an associate solicitor one of the top commercial law firms in Ireland.
