This workshop is aimed at mediators who want to re-fresh their skills involving role plays and interactive exercises and those who are interested in practising as a Mediator, providing knowledge of the mediation process and framework.
The Workshop is delivered by Sabine Walsh. Sabine has primary and masters’ degrees in law and is a qualified solicitor. She practices as a Mediator, Trainer and Lecturer, former President of the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland and is on the Law Society’s Mediation Panel.
MODULE I: THE MEDIATION ACT 2017
This Module will give an essential guide to the obligation in the Mediation Act 2017 for Mediation Practitioners. It includes practical advice and answers any questions about working within the framework of the Act.
Ø Guide to the Mediation Act for both lawyers and mediators.
Ø Key provisions and their implications for practice.
Ø Regulation of the Process.
Ø Confidentiality and Mediator’s obligations.
Ø Mediation and the Courts.
Ø Solicitor’s obligations.

MODULE 2: MEDIATION SKILLS
This Module will focus on skills and practice and involves role-play and interactive exercises. It will also address some new developments in the mediation field and signpost some emerging practice areas.
