The Workshop is delivered by Sabine Walsh. Sabine has primary and Masters' degrees in law and is a qualified solicitor. She practices as a mediatior, trainer and lecturer. She is currently serving a three-year term as President of the Mediators' Institute of Ireland and is on the Law Society's Mediation Panel. She has a keen interest in mediator eduation and higher education and designed and co-ordinates two postgraduate programmes in mediation and conflict in St. Angela's College, Sligo (National University of Ireland). She also provides mediation training in the private sector and runs workshops and seminars on conflict management and mediation. She is a regular writer for the Kluwer Mediation Blog, has publised articles on mediation and mediatior education and is co-editor of the EU Mediation Law Handbook (Kluwer, 2017). She has presented at mediation conferences in many different countries.
Module 1 THE MEDIATION ACT 2017
This module will give an essential guide to the obligation in the Mediation Act 2017 for legal and mediation practitioners. It includes practical advice and asnweres any question mediatiors and solicitors mmight have about working within the framework of the Act..
Module 2 CROSS BORDER MEDIATION LAW & PRACTICE
This module will provide essential knowledge required to successfully manage a cross-border mediation on behalf of clients. Learn how to identify mediation-friendly jurisdictions and avoid many of the jurisdictional difficulties of international mediation. The module combines law and practice in interactive activities using scenarios based on different corss border cases.
