Julie Austin leads McDowell Purcell’s Data Protection Department. Julie provides advice to public bodies, semi-state bodies and corporate clients on all aspects of Data Protection. Most recently, she has advised a semi-state organisation on dealing with a data breach, drafted data retention schedules for numerous statutory bodies, carried out a number of data protection audits, provided training on data protection and advised on the transfer of personal data outside of the EU using Model Contracts. She recently drafted the Data Protection Guide for Members of the Law Library which was published by the Bar of Ireland earlier this year. Julie is currently drafting a statutory instrument on behalf of a statutory body availing of certain exemptions under the GDPR.
