New Information Booklet for Separating Couples

Relationship breakdown can be very emotional and stressful, and can make it particularly difficult for the people involved to agree decisions in relation to living arrangements, finances and childcare, according to the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (the MII) who have published a guide to mediation for separating couples.  The booklet, aimed at members of the public, describes how mediation can help separating couples to make informed decisions with the help of a trained professional.

“Mediation fosters good communication and allows both parties more choice and control.  Since the recession began, we have noticed an increase in separating couples using mediation as an alternative route to litigation, which can be costly, lengthy and stressful,” said Karen Erwin, President of the MII.

The booklet, which features frequently asked questions, a list of approved MII Mediators with experience in mediating separating couples and contact details for the MII has been distributed to Mediators throughout Ireland and is available to download below.
