Intergenerational Transition and Mental Well-being in farming communities.10th June: Portlaoise

    Event Description:

Join us for an engaging and practical training day on Navigating Intergenerational Transition and Mental Well-being in agricultural communities. This session will explore the challenges and opportunities that may arise during farm succession, with a focus on mental well-being.

Led by Prof. Louise McHugh and Dr. Tomás Russell, Co-Directors of the UCD Agri Mental Health Research Group, this workshop provides an overview of the research on farmer mental health of the UCD Agri Mental Health Research Group. Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the unique mental health landscape within the farming community, current issues and stressors and resilience strategies.

The session is designed to upskill professionals in evidence-based interventions, providing a psychological toolkit to support conversations with farm families where there might be difficulties.

Recognising the emotional toll of this work, the workshop provides dedicated strategies for practitioner self-care and mental well-being when managing complex client dynamics.

The day will offer both valuable insights and tools to help support you in your work with client conversations and mental well-being.
