Course Title: The Psychology of Mediation
By the end of this one day workshop attendees will walk away with skills, techniques and strategies to enhance and develop their mediation practice.
Even the best mediators in the world at times find it challenging to move the process forward. This course will equip you with cutting-edge psychological techniques that will assist you in achieving successful outcomes.
While the course is grounded in proven mediation principles and practice it also draws on a wealth of experience from world renowned experts such as family therapist Virginia Satir and co-creator of NLP Richard Bandler.
Learning Modules will include:-
Making contact & developing rapport so that you can relate well with your clients and navigate uncertainty.
Understanding patterns of behaviour which will allow you to understand your clients' motivation and identify sources of conflict.
Developing well formed outcomes and direction so that you can ensure that your clients' goals are well thought out and won't lead to unintended consequences.
Applying a unique step by step Empowerment Framework which will prove invaluable and powerful in guiding you through the mediation process.

Brian’s training was excellent. It helped me to understand better how to see beyond the behaviours presenting on the surface and find strategies to get to a deeper level. It also helped me to become more aware of myself and my behaviours and emotions during mediation. Most of all, Brian gave me the confidence to believe in myself as a relatively new mediator while helping me to gain new skills and knowledge that could enhance my mediation practice.
Tina Tully, Ómra Support Agency
Brian has a very interactive approach and engages all participants in the course content. I have found the materials supplied to be practical and easily applied in the mediation process. I gained valuable insights in how to work as a mediator in each of his courses and would recommend Brian as a practical and well prepared trainer in mediation.
Michael O'Sullivan HR consultant
Brian's calm and open professional approach contributed considerably to putting participants at ease, thereby creating an environment that was conducive to positive learning and to free expression. I think this is one of the reasons why the course was so successful, opening up safe and trusted space for people to reflect, interact, learn and grow under professional and experienced guidance
Anna Walsh Doyle, International Workplace Mediator
Brian's course content was excellent, so interesting and opened up new possibilities for practice. His presentation skills - listening, commenting, explanation, handling of discussion etc. made today altogether an excellent learning experience.
