This is a special year for MII as we celebrate thirty years of developing and overseeing mediation standards and practice across the island of Ireland. As we emerge from the pandemic the MII continues to strive to deliver higher standards and promote the increasing use of mediation. The societal changes caused by the pandemic including a huge increase in online working practices are challenging for many, and opportunities for mediation to deliver solutions abound. Additional opportunities for mediation services are emerging due to the impacts of Brexit, the war in the Ukraine and the growing Climate Crisis. This year we have produced a new improved Code of Ethics for mediators, and we are engaging intensely to support the establishment of the Mediation Council.

Our annual conference on Friday October 14th will focus on “Celebrating Professionalism in Mediation”. It will be the first opportunity in three years for members to gather in person to reflect, discuss and look forward to the opportunities that are emerging for our mediators. Speakers were selected to represent the broad range of mediation work that our members undertake and they represent a cross section of our mediation work. Keynote speakers will include internationally renowned Judy M. Beranger (Elder Mediation), Pat Hynes (Glencree Centre for Reconciliation), Mary Connaughton (CIPD Ireland Director) and Judge Rosemary Horgan.

We are designing our conference to be a warm collegiate learning experience  and we will be focused on helping you network with mediator colleagues to get the most from our conference. It is also a time for relaxation and to enjoy what we do and our contribution to conflict resolution in Ireland.

We encourage you to book your conference ticket as soon as possible. Non-MII Members are welcome to attend the conference.
