I am an experienced and accredited MII Mediator (www.themii.ie), holding a master’s degree in Mediation & Conflict Intervention. I have specialised training in mediating separating couples, Child Inclusive Mediation (Family Mediators Association UK) and Cross Border & Child Abduction mediation (MiKKe.)
I am certified by the International Institute of Restorative Practice and hold a certificate in Reflective Practice group leadership from the Reflective Practice Institute. I am an accredited conflict management coach in CINERGY® Conflict Management Coaching.
I am also an Associate Lecturer on the Human Resources Master’s degree in the National College of Ireland delivering lectures for an elective module on mediation.
I have designed and developed a conflict resolution programme for families, helping them move from conflict to connection with particular emphasis on the teenage years. Working through this programme parents and teenagers have improved the way they engage in conflict, developed their communication skills, and improved relationships.
In 2023 Andrea co-delivered mediation training for two cohorts of students within the Irish Prison Services. She has co-delivered programmes on mediation and trauma for the Irish Red Cross, Helping Irish Hosts, Mediators Beyond Borders and for numerous corporate organisations.
I have facilitated mediations in families, schools, communities, workplace and government funded organisations, assisting those who are in conflict to reach understanding and agreement.
I facilitate separating couples in mediation to reach agreement in relation to the end of their marriage, parenting plans, maintenance and distribution of assets using a child focused and child inclusive approach.
I currently sit on the MII council and lead their collaboration with the Irish Red Cross to provide training and mediation as they navigate emergency housing and integration since the beginning of the Ukraine war.
I am trauma informed and carry out all my work through a trauma informed lens. I was involved in developing trauma training for mediators in Ukraine through my work with Mediators Beyond Borders International. My work is informed by my knowledge of mediation, conflict, trauma, restorative practice and interpersonal and system dynamics. I am also a Youth Mental Health first aider.
