About Accredited Training Courses
In order to become a Member of the MII a person must complete an MII accredited training course. Exceptions are considered for Recognition of Equivalent Training completed outside of the island of Ireland.
All training programmes approved by the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland are assessed against specific criteria based on the competencies required for membership.
Please note that while the following listed training programmes have been approved by the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland (The MII), the MII is not responsible for the administration or delivery of these programmes. Also, to become a member of the MII, participants must register directly with the MII within 1 year of the date of the assessment result. Any person who is on an MII approved training programme is entitled to apply for Trainee Affiliation of the MII for the year of their training and the following calendar year.
Please note: Certificates of successful completion of Certified Level Mediation Programmes are valid for 1 year from the date of the Assessment result. If the certificate expires applicants must re-sit and pass the skills assessment in order to apply for Membership.

Training Course Approval Process for Membership Level courses. All training programmes approved by the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland are assessed against specific criteria based on the competencies required for the various levels of membership.
Any training programme seeking approval to MII approved Membership level must meet the requirements as set out in the Certified Level Mediation Training Programmes and Prescribed Learning Outcomes. For further details in relation to the specific requirements of approved assessment processes refer to Roleplay Assessment Procedures. To apply for approval of your training programme, please submit documentation outlining the knowledge, skills and assessment procedures of your training programme and submit with a completed Training Course Profile Form to the Director of Accreditation at info@themii.ie The application fee for assessing new training programmes is €600 and the annual renewal fee is €425. The Director of Accreditation will acknowledge receipt of the application and indicate the timescale for assessment.
All applicants will have to show that their programme adheres to the MII Quality Assurance Framework. Applicants will be assessed by a group consisting of Advanced Members of the MII. No Member of that group will be running a training programme in mediation during their involvement in the assessment of training programmes. If further information is required in order to properly assess the training programme, this will be requested. If there are specific identified gaps in relation to the application of the course or assessment of skills content, this will be discussed with the trainer making the application.
