General Profile
I am a law graduate from Trinity College Dublin. I also have a Master's Degree in European Law from the University of Exeter in the UK.
After I was called to the Bar in 1993, I worked in Brussels for 6 months in the agriculture team of the legal service of the European Commission where I dealt with milk quota litigation and State liability in agricultural matters. I returned home in 1994 and commenced practice at the Bar in Dublin in the area of personal injuries and insurance litigation and then in the Midlands where I do a lot of family law and childcare work as well as general civil claims and property disputes. I also served a Chairperson of Mental Health Tribunals for 13 years. I have also lectured European and European Constitutional Law and tutored in contract and competition law.
I am very interested in the possibilities offered by mediation as an alternative to litigation: empowering parties to arrive at their own agreements. I have extensive experience in negotiating settlements and arriving at solutions that offer parties a way of moving beyond conflict. I am available to do online or virtual mediations via Zoom, Skype or other video conferencing platforms. I have a diploma in mediation from the Law Society of Ireland and I have completed 32 hours additional certified training in mediation for separated couples.
