My work involves helping people to find a resolution that works for them. I provide a safe process to explore what's possible and an agreement is only reached when all those involved give their consent. There are often added bonuses along the way, such as improved future relationships, the prevention of further disputes, and learning in many areas.

    General Profile

Harriet has worked in conflict resolution for over 20 years. She has particular experience in complex multi-party, multi-issue disputes, and of conflicts with environmental dimensions. She has worked with a diverse range of parties in dispute, including individuals, not-for-profit development groups, NGOs,  local communities, local government, State and semi-State agencies, and commercial interests. Harriet commonly co-mediates with colleagues whose particular expertise and skills add value to the process.

Harriet has experience of inter-cultural mediation, working alongside translators, and in situations of high tension, particularly in community mediation. She has mediated workplace and organisational disputes, conflicts on voluntary boards and within non-governmental organisations. Her work has included farm and business succession and commercial cases. Much of her work has involved conflicts arising within communities and between them and business or state interests.

A certified mediator, trained in restorative practice and facilitation, with a background in supporting community-based initiatives, Harriet’s approach is firmly client-centred and this gives focus and strength to her work. She is committed to providing a safe and constructive process through which clients can examine all aspects of the dispute, explore options for resolution, and develop and test their own agreement.
