As a qualified barrister who is no longer in practice, I have experienced the increasing need for mediation as a viable alternative over litigation particularly in civil, family (separating couples), workplace and commercial disputes.
Mediation can allow people in conflict to explore solutions and to come to an agreement amongst themselves. The role of the mediator is to direct the process and facilitate an environment in which people in dispute can tell their story - with a view to moving forward into the future with a positive outcome that everyone can agree.
It is a confidential and voluntary alternative to expensive and drawn out legal disputes where the power to come to an agreement is kept by those in dispute and not handed over to a judge or legal representative. I look forward to discussing mediation with you further.
