Margaret is a past President of the Mii, where she developed a clear strategy, a strong board governance structure and membership involvement and reporting framework to guide the organisation through a period of radical change with the commencement of the 2017 Mediation Act.
An Advanced Practice Mediator, Management Consultant and Trainer, with wide ranging expertise in all aspects of governance, the world of work, conflict, psychology and strategy which she optimises in her mediaiton work to resolve all forms of disputes for for nearly three decades.
Margaret was the ministerial appointed NED to the Building Momentum national pay talks chaired by Kieran Mulvey.
Margaret has conducted national negotiations and hundreds of complex mediations in both public, private and publicly quoted companies and bodies.
As CEO of EQuita Consulting, which she established in 2001, Margaret has conducted over 350 investigations in public and private sector organizations in Ireland and abroad and has lead numerous conflict interventions, including over 600 mediations, multiparty interventions, conflict coaching and training.
Since its inception in 2001 EQuita has specialised in all aspects of conflict resolution, bullying and harassment at work, including training, awareness raising and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Margaret is a recognised expert in the Mediation field. She co-authored a leading management brief on the subject “Bullying and Harassment: Values and Best Practice Responses”, published by Management Briefs sponsored by the Irish Times and described by Professor Andrew Kakabadse of Cranfield School of Management as ‘an outstanding and most competent capture of all the relevant issues around bullying and harassment in the workplace’.
Margaret brings to all her professional activities a wealth of experience, insight and common sense, a deep awareness and understanding of the issues, the highest standards of adherence to agreed procedures and best practice, accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail, fairness and equity.
As a skilled and experienced trainer Margaret is also well versed in imparting her skills and experience to others.
Margaret has attended Harvard Law School, Harvard Business School and North Western University to stretch her perspective on negotiation and mediation. Margaret is the only Irish person who has achieved the Harvard MIT Master Negotiation Standard - an invitation only programme. Margaret was appointed as the Harvard Programme Director on the Global PON [Point on Negotiation Programme] when it travelled to Ireland.
With masters in psychology, conflict resolution and governance and having lectured in three continents to masters level, Margaret brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, commercial acumen, best practice, empathy and humanity to her mediation practice.
