It’s really all about relationships and how we communicate with each other, this is where I step in to help facilitate those very important conversations.

    General Profile

    A little about me
My name is Sharon Mc Allorum, I am a professional mediator who provides a personalised service to my client, which is tailored around my client’s needs, availability and the all-important meeting times, all of which are agreed mutually.
I am many things to many people, so depending on the hat I am wearing I am a mother, a wife, a friend, a volunteer, a mentor or indeed a mediator at any moment in any given day. I qualified as a mediator in 2019 and have been working as a general mediator since covering all types of disputes including family, neighbours, workplace, inheritance and much more. It’s really all about relationships and how we communicate with each other, this is where I step in to help facilitate those very important conversations.
Since qualifying as a mediator in 2019, I have taken on additional courses and certifications. Now qualified in Family and Separating Couples Mediation, which brought me into the area of working with couples and parents, the focus is very much on how to separate well, the future, and what that might look like, what works best, and in the best interest of their family and children.
I love learning and experiencing new things, which works really well as all mediators are required to keep their knowledge and skills up to date (CPD) for the benefit of their clients and professional development. For this reason, I have increased my professional accreditation to include Conflict Resolution Coaching, Restorative Practice Practitioner, Facilitator and Instructor, Difficult Conversations Coach and Facilitator, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and numerous supporting disciplines. Each year, I seek out other areas of interest and have completed training and certification to further support my CPD and personal development. These include Family Law, Principled Negotiation, Advanced Humanitarian Mediation, and Manager as Mediator courses. I have also updated my skills and knowledge in Restorative Practice and Conflict Coaching by taking refresher courses, which are amazing and allows me time to reconnect with my colleagues I had originally trained with so long ago, renewing and making new connections, wonderful.
I also volunteer as a mediator through various charity groups such as Dublin Community Mediation, of which I am a deputy chair and Ballymun Community Law Centre. I am a member of the board of Facing Forward, another charity that advocates and promotes the benefits of Restorative Justice and Practice within the judicial system and in the community. I have created and designed an Introduction to Restorative Practice course, which I have delivered to Secondary School TY students and to management and students of CDETB Adult Education Training Centre’s. I am also part of the team on The Mediators Institute of Ireland council, and the designated community liaison officer, and I represent the community sector as a delegate on the Mediation Council Shadow Group. Giving back is very important to me, and I find it very rewarding.
I feel that I bring a vast array of life experiences along with my academic achievements, which helps to further enhance my personal development and skill set, which enables me to bring a host of experience, knowledge, and understanding into the room when I meet with clients.
Looking forward to meeting and working with you.
