    Course Aims

    For participants to learn and practise facilitative mediation skills

    Course Objectives

    By the end of the training course, participants will understand facilitative mediation and its benefits, will have learnt the classic facilitative mediation model, will have practised being a mediator in role play situations and will have gained significant communications and life skills

    Methodology and evaluation

    The learning approach will use presentations, group work, reflective discussions and role-plays around the skills of mediation. Each attendee will practise 3 aspects of mediation and will be assessed as per MII guidelines

    Admission Requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements and potential participants are advised that it is an intensive and very interactive course

    Trainers

    Senior Trainer: Luke Monahan has Masters Degrees in Leadership and also in Education and is an Advanced Mediator with the MII. He is a senior associate with the Irish Management Institute specialising in change management, leadership development and performance enhancement. He is the author of 12 books on education and social issues and is a Director of the Mediation Foundation of Ireland (mfi.ie) and Curam (www.curam.ie).     Other Trainers: Tony Bourke has a Masters degree in Information Technology, has a Higher Diploma in Education and is a Certified Mediator with the MII.     William Corless has a masters degree in Mediation and Conflict Resolution and is an experienced coach and management trainer nationally and internationally in a range of areas including negotiation, change management and communication skills.

    MFI use mediation practice coaches to assist with the training including Judi Coyne a family and separating couples mediator. We also have a panel of extern assessors.
