MII TED Talk Club meeting – 9th June at 13.00 GMT

2 June 2026

The final MII TED Talk Club meeting before the summer break will focus on learnings from Siamak Hariri’s TED Talk entitled “How do you build a sacred space?”

To design the Bahá’í Temple of South America, architect Siamak Hariri focused on illumination — from the temple’s form, which captures the movement of the sun throughout the day, to the iridescent, luminous stone and glass used to construct it. Join Hariri for a journey through the creative process, as he explores what makes for a sacred experience in a secular world.

As with all of our TED Talk Club meetings, we watch the video live from 1pm BST/Irish Time and ask a panel of experienced mediators what relevance the video might have in mediation? Questions like these:

Q. How might mediators intentionally create a psychological or physical “sacred space” that helps participants shift from defensiveness to reflection?

Q. How can mediators shape the experience of mediation, such as tone, pacing, rituals, transitions, so that parties feel safe enough to engage deeply?

Q. How can mediators cultivate a sense of dignity, meaning, and reverence for the process without invoking anything religious?

Register here: clr.ie/137293  – it’s free and everyone (not only MII members) may join us. It’s a great, fun way to learn:
