The Benefits of Mediation
Mediation can offer many benefits to parties in dispute including; avoiding costly legal/court services and the end-result may be agreed by the parties involved, instead of an external body.
The Mediation Process
Each Mediation is different but certain factors are consistent in every case, such as an impartial Mediator, one to one and joint meetings with the Mediator and both parties.

About MII
About MII Overview
The MII was founded on our belief in the practice of Mediation and the recognition that Ireland needed a professional body to raise awareness and standards in this emerging area.
Who We Are
The MII Council is made up of members elected at the MII Annual General Meeting dedicated to the practice and development of quality mediation in Ireland.
Our Mission
Our mission is to lead the continued development and promotion of Mediation services in Ireland.
A Framework for Excellence
Our ‘Framework for Excellence’ assures that the the MII shall continue to promote excellence in the practice of Mediation.
The Green Pledge
As a supporter of the World Mediators Alliance on Climate Change (WoMACC) Mediators’ Pledge, the MII invite all our members to become signatories.
Governance
The MII is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity. Our governance documents outline the strands of the MII Governance process.
Code of Ethics and Practice
Our Code of Ethics and Practice applies to all MII accredited Mediators.. It guides and supports Mediators, and they are obliged to comply with it.

Recognition of Equivalent Training
Process of application for recognition of equivalent training done with any training body other than one accredited by the MII.
Member Fees
Registration fees are applicable on an annual calendar year basis (January-to-January) and should be submitted to the MII when making an online application for membership.
Reflective Practice and Learning Groups
Providing an opportunity for between 6 and 12 Mediators to come together and share their mediation experience.
Advice on Uploading Documents and Profile Guidelines
Documents that need to be submitted with membership and advice on editing your profile.
Training
Training Overview
Accredited Mediation Training
All training programmes approved by the Mediators’ Institute of Ireland are assessed against specific criteria based on the competencies required for the various levels of membership.
Continuing Professional Development Training requirements
Elder Mediation Training
MII recognises the importance of this unique growing area of mediation practice, and in responding to the demand for qualified Elder Mediators, providing a professional service, has established a specialist training programme for MII mediators wishing to work in this area.
Family (Separating Couples) accredited training
40 hours Separating Couples training is mandatory for members who wish to be certified to mediate with Separating Couples.
Find a Training Course
MII approves independent trainers to provide course programmes leading to MII accreditation.
